On Tuesday late night, wrestler Narsingh Pancham Yadav finally stepped out of his room in Sonepat and went to nearby Rai police station to file an FIR (First Information Report) against a junior grappler for allegedly mixing a banned substance in his food.

The 17-year-old wrestler, who has been accused by Narsingh of the wrongdoing, is reportedly a trainee at the Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium, which is now under the supervision of two time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar. The teenager's name has been kept a secret by the police but a source close to Narsingh told dna that "this alleged trainee has already represented India in junior international tournaments'.

On Wednesday, however, National Anti-Doping Agency panel's hearing into Narsingh's case remained inconclusive and will continue on Thursday also. Narsingh's lawyer Vidushpat Singhania said, "The hearing has been adjourned till 4 pm tomorrow. The arguments from our end have been completed. The panel gave us a fair hearing; they gave us a long hearing. They were very patient and we are expecting from them that they will do justice in this case. We are hopeful that Narsingh can be exonerated."

dna has learnt that Narsingh's defence was the same as what he has alleged in the FIR that "Narsingh's water was contaminated with banned drug (metadienone) during the national camp at Sonepat".

Meanwhile, Olympic medal-winning wrestler Sushil Kumar's coach and 1982 Asiad gold medallist Satpal has welcomed the probe sought by Narsingh in this matter. Having been associated with Chhatrasal Stadium for many decades, Satpal reportedly said that, "It's a good thing that Narsingh has filed a complaint in the case as it will bring us closer to the truth. If a cadet from Chhatrasal has done this, he will be punished".

dna reported that this junior wrestler, being named in FIR, was first identified by the cook at the SAI Sonepat centre from a group photograph of the junior team being showed to him by authorities. According to WFI official, the cook caught the young wrestler sprinkling some powder substance into the meal being prepared in the kitchen.

However, the entire meal was later discarded after informing the authorities.

"When Narsingh was told about this, he recalled having seen the same wrestler sneaking into his room on many occasions," added the official.

Rana named as replacement

In another major development, WFI has named unknown Praveen Rana as the replacement for Narsingh. This has come after United World Wrestling (UWW) extended date especially to accommodate India.

Freestyle wrestler Rana won the gold at the 2014 Dave Schultz Memorial wrestling tournament in the US. "What has happened with Narsingh is very sad. I have been told by the federation that I will be going to Rio so I will act responsibly and do my best in Rio," Rana said before departing with the Indian wrestling team for a training camp in Georgia early on Wednesday.
