Indian shooter Chain Singh, who was discharged from a Lausanne hospital in Switzerland after being diagnosed with pulmonary embolism and pneumonia, will travel to Rio subject to passing a fitness test, National Rifle Association of India president said on Monday.
There were reports of Sanjeev Rajput may be looked at a replacement for Chain. NRAI president Raninder Singh told dna on Monday: "We have to only send a fit athlete to Rio as it is a question of medal prospect. Today, I came to know that Chain Singh has been discharged from hospital (in Lausanne). The doctor has informed us that he is fit enough to travel to Rio.
"Since we have to be sure that he is fit enough to participate in Olympics, I have asked an NRAI official to conduct a fitness test and take a final call. As of now, Chain is going to Rio subject to his passing the fitness test."
