Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq became the oldest player in 82 years to score a test century as the 42-year-old hit an unbeaten 110 to put his side in a strong position on the first day of the opening match against England.

Misbah's style of celebrating the record afterwards raised not only curiosity among the crowd but also excitement. Just when he crossed 100, Misbah took off his helmet, saluted his teammates watching from the balcony, and then, surprisingly, did 10 push-ups on the ground.

Giving reason for this way of celebration, Misbah said post-match, “It was my promise to the army guys in the Abbottabad camp that I’d do ten push-ups whenever I score hundred in England." He also dedicated this century to his wife, who he said keeps a fast every time he is on the ground playing a match.
