Tamil Nadu crushed Uttar Pradesh by an innings and 49 runs with a day to spare against Uttar Pradesh in Chennai on Thursday. The day also saw Test middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara of Saurashtra score century against Vidarbha.

Assisted by off-spinners Malolan Rangarajan (5/42) and S Suresh Kumar (4/38), Tamil Nadu dismissed UP for 169 in their second innings.

TN, who were 360/7 overnight, were all out for 400 in their first innings at the MA Chidambaran Stadium to enjoy a lead of 218 runs. UP batsmen were bundled out in just 57.1 overs with only captain Piyush Chawla offering some resistence by making 69 runs at No. 8. None of the other UP batsmen scored more than 20. This was Tamil Nadu's second win of the season.

Elsewhere, three other matches ended on the day. Andhra defeated Tripura by an innings and 8 runs in Group C in Ongole, Delhi also won by an innings to pocked seven points against Odisha at the Ferozeshah Kotla and Maharashtra got the better of Team Rajasthan by 9 wickets in Pune.

In Nagpur, Pujara scored 114 during his 280-minute stay at the crease but Saurashtra still face an uphill task. Replying to Vidarbha's 583/9 declared, Saurashtra were 251/5, still 332 behind.
