After Sachin Tendulkar claimed in his autobiography that ex-coach Greg Chappell wanted Tendulkar to be captain, Rahul Dravid has denied knowledge of any such conversation between Tendulkar and Chappell.

"I am sorry but I haven't read the excerpt. That was a private conversation between two people and I am not privy to that", said Dravid to ESPNCricinfo.

When asked if this was the first time he had heard about such a conversation between Chappell and Tendulkar, Dravid said that he had never known about it before.

Dravid said that it had been a long time since Greg Chappell's tenure as Indian coach and therefore these issues didn't matter to him now.

The Indian Test great added that he did not want to read about controversies in Sachin's upcoming autobiography. Instead, he expressed interest in reading about Tendulkar's batsmanship. He said he would want to know about how Tendulkar's mind worked and how he became the greatest batsman in the world.

Tendulkar has said that Chappell came to his house months before the 2007 World Cup and tried to convince him to become captain. According to Tendulkar, Chappell said that he and Tendulkar could "control Indian cricket for years". Tendulkar claims he was aghast at the lack of respect Chappell showed for the incumbent captain Rahul Dravid. He also slammed Chappell for 'trying to impose his views on other players' and alleged that Chappell wanted all seniors players to be dropped.
