Even though Sourav Ganguly has hung up his boots, he continues to make headlines for reasons off the pitch. In the recently concluded ICC meeting in Dubai on April 24, the BCCI top brass came to a unanimous decision to field the ex-Indian captain against veteran N Srinivasan in the race for being the Board President.

Ganguly was a popular face in the Indian advertising scenario during his playing days and still continues to be a much sought after face. In the recently held Kings XI Punjab match in Indore, an advertisement hoarding of a courier company was seen with Ganguly as the brand ambassador. The courier company also happens to be one of the official sponsors of Kings XI Punjab.

Here the point of conflict of interest crops up as Ganguly is a member of IPL's governing committee besides being the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal. Can he endorse a product as well as hold official position within the administration of the BCCI?

"There's an ambiguity around these things, but actually when one is an administrator in the board, one should avoid all this. It's not right to sail in two boats. He's also a member of the IPL Governing Council," a top BCCI official told TOI on Monday.

Ganguly also features in several news channels as an expert commentator, besides writing columns for national and regional dailies. There is a lack of clarity in BCCI's rule book governing these matters and now as it is being headed by a Committee of Administrators the decision is likely to be taken by them. The BCCI has not come up with an official statement till now.
