Manchester United will be without defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones for Saturday's Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion, while midfielder Paul Pogba and captain Wayne Rooney are also on the treatment table.

Leading scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder Ander Herrera will miss the weekend's game as they serve the final game of their suspensions. With 13 United players involved in international games over the past week, Mourinho said his side were at a disadvantage against eighth-placed West Brom.

"If you compare our situation with our opponents, West Bromwich Albion, only one player on international duty. They had time to work, time to rest and prepare. It's going to be hard, " he added.
United are fifth in the league, four points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with two games in hand.  Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a groin injury.

A club statement confirmed on Friday evening: "Juan has had surgery for a groin injury. Further updates on his recovery will follow in due course."

However, as per goal.com, the Spain international may yet feature before the end of the campaign following a successful operation. Mata, who has played a key role for his side this season by scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in all competitions, has now joined the growing list of absentees as the Reds head into a crucial stage of the season.
