Pune: Champion trainer Pesi Shroff was suspended for vicarious responsibility of his ward Bulls Eye testing positive for the banned substance Boldenone. The suspension comes into effect from March 29 to December 31, 2014. The decision was taken by the Royal Western India Turf Club stewards after they met at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on Friday.
Pesi Shroff had placed his defence in the Bulls Eye case before the RWITC stewards, on March 12 but the decision was deferred as Shroff wanted a day to go through the minutes of the previous meeting.“Shroff has been suspended for vicarious responsibility from March 29 to December 31 2014. Compulsory testing of all runners of Shroff will be done once he resumes training every alternate month for two years. If a horse leaves his yard and goes to a stud farm for summering, it will not be allowed back . The decision on Nanoli stud will be taken after they are heard,” said Vivek Jain, chairman of RWITC.
