Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has revealed his reasons for giving the dual responsibility of chief selector and team manager of Pakistan to former captain Moin Khan.

Sethi said that the dual role to Khan would ensure that he would now be present with the team on all tours as manager, which would allow him to monitor the performances and attitude of players as a chief selector.

According to The Dawn, Sethi further said that the unique practice of giving Khan a dual role would keep the players on their toes, adding that it would also take away the problems of the chief selector unable to personally monitor team performance on tours or liberties taken with the manager.

Sethi also said that as Khan would have to work closely with the new head coach and other coaching staff as manager/chief selector, it is for the best that he has been placed on the committee which is tasked with recommending the new head coach, fielding coach, batting coach and spin consultant of the national team.
