Patil to ‘debut’ as Mum selector today

Chairman of the national selection committee Sandeep Patil, who also heads Mumbai’s selection panel, will chair his first committee meeting today to be convened by joint secretary Nitin Dalal. Patil will pick the Mumbai U-25 team for the CK Nayudu Trophy that will start from October 19 onwards. “Patil has confirmed that he will be chair the meeting, his first as Mumbai selector,” said an MCA official.

The meeting will take place, sans Milind Rege who resigned from Mumbai Cricket Association’s selection committee this week. Patil will be joined by Abey Kuruvilla, Deepak Jadhav and Raju Sutar. In the Cricket Improvement Committee meeting held last week, Patil was appointed the chairman of Mumbai’s senior selection panel. BCCI’s junior selection committee chairman Chandrakant Pandit was appointed the head of the U-19 committee.

Meanwhile, Onkar Gurav scored a fighting 70 to help Dilip Vengsarkar XI reach 199 against Lalchand Rajput XI on Day Two of the U-25 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy on Wednesday.
