Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli's magnificent year with the bat got even better as he went past 1000-run mark in Tests in the year 2016 and also became the 14th Indian to score 4000 runs in white clothing.

What made Kohli's achievement even more noteworthy is the fatc that after Rahul Dravid, who scored more than 1000 runs in 2011, none of the other Indians have been able to repeat that feat. So basically, the poster boy of Indian cricket ended a barren run which lasted for five long years.

Also he is only the fourth Indian captain to score 1000 runs in a calendar year and here too Dravid was the last one who scored 1000 runs while being the skipper of India in 2006.

The right-hander also became the sixth fastest Indian (in terms of innings taken) to score 4000 runs in Tests.

Kohli is already the highest run-getter of 2016 if all the three international formats are taken into account and this feat is just another feather in the hat of the courageous leader of a young pack.
