Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has thrown his support behind former Test skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq who is likely to be announced as  the national chief selector.

Lavishing praise over the PCB's decision to implement one of his suggestions that he gave after 2015 World Cup, Waqar wrote on Twitter, "Hearing Inzamam coming as chief selector. Very good news. Glad PCB now listening to my 2015 recommendations."

Last week, Haroon Rasheed was sacked from the post of chief selector after a special committee created by PCB asked the PCB to bring change in the selection committee. Meanwhile, Waqar, in his report submitted after the World T20, had also slammed Rasheed for making too many changes in the team rather than sticking to his decision for some time in a bid to develop the team.

Just days after submitting the report, former pace spearhead Waqar announced his resignation from his post, saying that the PCB's failure to implement his recommendations after the 2015 World Cup and leak of his confidential report played a major role behind his resignation three months before his contract expires.

As the Pakistan Cricket Board continues its search for a new head coach, its chairman Shaharyar Khan has said that the board may appoint an interim coach for the tour of England in June.  Pakistan are scheduled to play four-match Test series, five ODIs and a single T20 match against England.

According to the Express Tribune, Shaharyar stated that no one has been selected yet despite rumours suggesting a few favourites for the role. According to reports, former Australian cricketer Dean Jones is being considered as favourites for the role of head coach.

The PCB has been looking for a new coach after former pace spearhead Waqar Younis stepped down following Pakistan's dismal performance in Asia Cup and World T20.
