Pakistan have scripted themselves into the history books as Misbah-ul-Haq men's recorded the worst start to a one-day international innings when they were reeling at 1-4 in the fourth over during their humiliating defeat against the West Indies on Saturday in Christchurch.

Chasing the target of 310, opener Nasir Jamshed, veteran batsman Younis Khan and Haris Sohail failed to score even a single run as they fell prey to Jerome Taylor's deliveries, News.com.au reported.

Opener Ahmed Shehzad followed them shortly as he was caught behind by Lendl Simmons off Jason Holder's delivery.

Pakistan were reeling at one for the loss of four wickets in the fourth over before Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood provided some relief to the collapsing batting order.

Previously, minnows Canada held the record for the worst ODI start as they were 4-4 against Zimbabwe in Port-of-Spain in 2006.
