Pakistan off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez has failed an unofficial bowling test in Chennai, thanks to his deliveries violating the 15-degree arm rule.

This was an unofficial test prior to the official one which was to be conducted on Hafeez by the ICC. Four of Hafeez's deliveries were beyond the elbow extension limit as stated under ICC regulations.

His first two deliveries were measured at 17 and 19 degrees.Hafeez was suspended from bowling in competitive cricket in December, thanks to the ICC finding his action as suspect.

He was first reported in the first test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi and was subsequently tested at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough. Hafeez still has a chance to play the 2015 World Cup as a batsman though.

Also reports confirm that Saeed Ajmal, another suspended bowler, has ruled himself out of the upcoming World Cup.

Pakistan may name its World Cup squad by next week.
