Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur took a strict stand and ruled out any possibility of resumption of India-Pakistan cricketing ties after the recent Pakistan-backed terror attack at Indian base camp in Uri.

The terror attacks on an Indian army brigade headquarters near the de factor border with Pakistan on Sunday martyred 18 soldiers in one of the most deadly attacks in the northern region of Kashmir in a quarter-century-old insurgency. Four "fidayeen" - or commando-style gunmen willing to fight to the death - were confirmed killed after penetrating the base in Uri near the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan.

A short bilateral series between the arch rivals was on cards late last year, but the plans were shelved after the Indian and Pakistani governments failed to decide a suitable venue for the series and now Thakur's stern directive is more than an indication that the two nations aren't going to meet each other soon.

"Priority is to expose Pak as country which sponsors terrorism. No question of playing cricket which such a nation: Anurag Thakur, BCCI Chief," Thakur said.
