They say all superheroes don't wear cape, and discus thrower Krishna Poonia turned into one on January 1, when she chased down an eve teaser and handed him over to police in Churu, a small town in Rajasthan.

Poonia was inside her car at a railway crossing when she saw three men harassing a couple of girls. The Commonwealth Games gold medallist, without wasting any time, jumped out of her car and ran towards the miscreants. Immediately the eve teasers tried to scurry away on a motorbike but Poonia chased one down, hauling him off the saddle of the bike.

“When I saw those two girls being harassed, I thought that they could well have been my daughters,” Poonia was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. “That made me go after the men.”

After catching the eve teaser, Poonia called the police, who arrived at the scene some time later. She dropped the girls home and criticised the police personnel for arriving at the scene late. “The police station was barely two minutes away from the spot but it took the cops some time to reach and I had to phone them twice,” she said. “How will cops ensure women’s safety if they arrive late?”
