The Mumbai Cricket Association has been forced to postpone its F Division matches, scheduled to be held on Sunday, because of non-availability of grounds.

Both Shivaji Park and some part of the Azad Maidan have been occupied by theatre artists who will be performing the Ram Leela on the occasion of Dussehra on Monday.

These matches will be held on October 4. “Barring a few pitches, the Shivaji Park ground, and part of Azad Maidan are being used for Ram Leela. Hence we have rescheduled the F Division matches. The other matches will be held as per scheduled,” Mumbai Cricket Association’s Kanga League secretary Vinod Deshpande said.

This, however, is not a new phenomenon in the city. These grounds are often used for political rallies. “We faced some problems earlier this year as there was a political function at Shivaji Park” Deshpande said. The Kanga League will be played for only two more Sundays.
