Nitin Patel to retire from role of Team India physio

Patel has worked with Team India since 2007, post replacing John Gloster for the England tour and has been one of the longest serving support staffs for the national team.

Nitin Patel, Team India's long time physio has submitted his resignation on Wednesday stating that he wanted to spend more time with family.

Patel has worked with Team India since 2007, post replacing John Gloster for the England tour and has been one of the longest serving support staffs for the national team.

ESPN Cricinfo reported that though, officially his resignation has not been approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) still Patel will not go back on his decision to retire.

Patel had been a frequent tourist with Team India for overseas series' and also looked after rehabilitation of BCCI contracted players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore.  

Patel's resignation comes a huge loss for BCCI and Team India in general as his contributions over the years have been of immense value.
