Nilesh Kulkarni claims to be the man of many firsts. He was the first Indian bowler to take a wicket off his very first ball in international cricket on his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 1997. He also claims that his International Institute of Sports Management (IISM) is the first institute in India to start a post graduate diploma course in sports management.

On Tuesday, Kulkarni came up with another first. The former cricketer and director of IISM said his institute has come up with a unique way of paying tribute to India on the occasion of the 66th year of the induction of the national anthem in the Constitution.

On the lines of Mile Sur and the Freedom Run – The Torch Song of the 80s, Kulkarni has come up with an idea that will see sporting legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza, Dhanraj Pillay, Bhaichung Bhutia and many more singing the national anthem in a 56-second video.

Kulkarni wants it to be called a "movement". "It will be the first time that the sporting legends will come together and sing the national anthem. It is not just another video but is very attractively directed by Abhijit Phanse," said Kulkarni.

Kulkarni felt that the video will serve as an inspiration to the youth. "There are a lot youngsters who are stuck playing video games at home and don't venture out to play. It leads to youngsters getting affected by new age diseases like obesity and diabetes. We want them to come out and play and learn whatever sport teaches us. This video will be an inspiration to them," he said.

Kularni stopped short of coming out with the details. "Wait for January 24 and you will know it all. It is going to surprise everyone," he said.
