The three eligible Indian cricket board office bearers are said to have decided to bar members of the units of North-eastern states from casting any vote during the upcoming special general meeting on April 18.

The trio — CK Khanna, Amitabh Chaudhary and Aniruddh Chaudhary — appear to have taken a cue from Attorney General Mukul Rohtagi's objection to "how non-cricketing states from Northeast are accorded a full membership status in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by Justice Lodha panel".

This, however, will be subject to any specific instruction regarding this issue from the Supreme Court during the next hearing, which is on April 17.

Rohtagi was talking about the taking away of voting rights of three governmental institutions — Railways, Inter-varsity and Services but the BCCI officials are clear in their mind that same old rules and regulations would be followed if a situation arises during the course of SGM.

This means all six from Maharashtra and Gujarat would continue to vote along with CCI and NCC (ousted as full members), in defiance of the Apex court's July 18, 2016 orders.

A top source in the BCCI said that first-timers like Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim along with those of Uttarakhand, Bihar and Telangana though will be allowed to attend and express their views during the course of the SGM, but would be strictly barred from voting on any crucial issue if it comes to that.

"For us (BCCI old officials), the matter is still being heard in the Apex court and going by our earlier stand we will follow the existing voting pattern which was there earlier," said a BCCI official on Friday.

CSK, RR to be back

Meanwhile, the two suspended Indian Premier League franchises — Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) — are going to have a smooth passage back to the main fold after a gap of two years.

Having been suspended for their "team owners" involvement in the betting and spot-fixing scandal, Justice Lodha panel suspended these teams for two seasons. BCCI is likely to float media rights tenders after the completion of IPL- X, there is no way that CSK or RR could be stopped from returning to the main draw.

However, the speculations are ripe that RR management is in talks with a leading corporate to sell their stake.
