`Clay King` Rafael Nadal has revealed that he would be playing at the Aegon Championships at Queen's for the first time since 2011 before he takes part in Wimbledon.

The Spaniard warmed up for Wimbledon by playing at the Halle Open in Germany in 2012 and 2014, but having failed to progress past the fourth round at the tournament in that time, he said that that is the main reason he would return to Queen's in June.

Nadal said that he wants to try Queen's again where the grass courts are a little bit more similar to Wimbledon, the BBC reported.

Nadal won the Aegon Championships in 2008 on the way to the first of his two Wimbledon titles. He said that he is very happy to be back, adding that Queen's is a great event, and he always enjoyed it.

The King of Clay said that he had some great feelings there, adding that the atmosphere of the club, which he branded 'a real tennis club', is very special and the courts are unbelievable.
