Mumbai Tennis Masters' poor run at home continued for the second successive day as they were handed a 14-23 drubbing by Raipur Rangers in the Champions Tennis League at the MSLTA Stadium here on Tuesday.

On the back of a 19-21 loss to Punjab Marshalls on Monday, the home side got off to a winning start in the first set. The legends singles was a smooth sailing for Mumbai with Richard Krajicek firing a host of aces in his 5-3 win over Thomas Muster.

The women's singles between Mumbai's Flavia Pennetta and Alize Cornet saw the latter produce a shock upset over the 2015 US Open Champion, winning the set 5-2 to help Raipur lead 8-7.

A lot was expected from the 33-year-old Pennetta, who raced to a 5-2 win in her win over Punjab Marshalls' Elina Svitolina on Monday. But she seemed out of sorts against Cornet, who didn't seem a bit intimidated by her opponent and the away fans.

The addition of men's singles player Roberto Bautista Agut saw Cornet up her game in the mixed doubles. She saved her best for the last game with some fine play near the net that even the home crowd applauded the 25-year old as the away side wrapped up the third set 5-2.

Mumbai's fate was sealed in the fourth game itself as Bautista partnered Chennai lad Ramkumar Ramanathan to down Giraldo and Sriram Balaji 5-3 with the last set to play.

It's not often that you get to see the home crowd in Mumbai being silenced. The result was already decided, the only thing left was the margin of defeat.

As Agut took the court to play the final set of the match, all he had to see was Giraldo's dejected look. Raipur had reduced the men's singles to a mere formality. The 27-year-old Spaniard inflicted further damage on the home side, breaking Giraldo's serve twice in the final game to win the set 5-2 and earn his side a much deserved nine-point victory over Mumbai.
