Mumbai FC rope in ex-India player Alex Ambrose as U-17 team coach

I-League outfit Mumbai FC has appointed former India and Maharashtra player Alex Ambrose as coach of the the Under-17 team that will participate in local football tournaments.

I-League outfit Mumbai FC has appointed former India and Maharashtra player Alex Ambrose as coach of the the Under-17 team that will participate in local football tournaments.

Ambrose, who also played for Mumbai FC from 2007 to 2011, is an AFC 'C' licence coach and a Graduate Coach of the Manchester United Soccer Schools. He coached at Manchester United Soccer Schools in India and UK.

"I am really excited to be back at Mumbai FC although as a coach and not a player. It's a new venture and I am looking forward to succeed as a Mumbai FC coach," said Ambrose, who donned the national jersey from 1998 to 2004, today.

The 32-year-old wants to mould the youngsters into top class players who would fit into the club's scheme of things.

"I plan to follow the club philosophy with the Under- 17 team. I am very familiar with it. I want to put forth my own ideas and bring more value out of the young players. 

Ultimately, the main aim is to develop players so that they can play for the senior team and win major trophies," he stated.
