Despite being reduced to 10 men for the last 11 minutes, Mumbai FC defeated East Bengal 3-2 to register their first home win, in the 12th round of the I-League at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on Monday.
The new signings from IMG-Reliance League made the difference for the Mumbai FC and the presence of Yusuf Yakubu ensured them their first first set of full points at home. Even though Mumbai’s Ahmad Arash Hatife was booked for the second time in the 79th minute, Yakubu (2nd), Hatife (36th) and NP Pradeep (62nd) had already secured the team’s win. For the visitors, Caviv Lobo (32nd) and Ryuji Sueoka (86th) found the net.
“It was a good win and finally we have done it. The presence of the experienced players made the difference. But in the end, it was team work that paid off,” said Jamil, Mumbai FC coach.
