Mumbai City FC jumped to the top of the Indian Super League points table after edging past NorthEast United FC 1-0 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday.

The visitors had NorthEast goalkeeper Wellington de Lima Gomes to thank for their solitary goal in the 45th minute. The goalkeeper appeared to be in control of a back pass when he dodged Sony Norde but the Brazilian appeared to take it too easy with the ball in a dangerous position. A charging Norde raced from behind, snatched the ball and passed it to Jackichand Singh who only had to tap it inside the goal.

Mumbai City now have 15 points from nine matches, two more than Delhi Dynamos who have a match in hand. NorthEast continue to be beyond the playoffs spot after being left with 10 points from their eight matches.

Stopwatch: NorthEast United FC 0 lost to Mumbai City FC 1 (Jackichand Singh 45)
