Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Joe Frazier was remembered at a private funeral service attended by his greatest rival Muhammad Ali, and other boxing legends.

Sixty-seven-year-old Frazier died last week after a short battle with liver cancer.

During the funeral, held in Philadelphia, Ali rose and vigorously clapped for his fallen rival.

According to the Telegraph, former heavyweight champions Larry Holmes joined Ali, while promoter Don King also paid his respects at the private funeral.

The Reverand Jesse Jackson gave stirring remarks, asking fans to stand and 'show your love' for Frazier.

Mike Tyson, Donald Trump and actor Mickey Rourke sent videotaped messages of their respective condolences, the report said.

Frazier, known as "Smokin' Joe", won the Olympic heavyweight boxing gold medal for the United States in 1964 in Tokyo and held the world heavyweight boxing crown from 1970 to 1973.

He won the first of three classic bouts with Ali, the so-called Fight of the Century, in New York in 1971.

The pair met three times between March 1971 and Oct 1975, the first and last bouts are still regarded as two of the finest fights in heavyweight history.
