Former Pakistan Test all-rounder Mudassar Nazar believes that although their squad has been under-performing at the Cricket World Cup, fast bowling great Shoaib Akhtar is merely exaggerating the problems in the nation's game.

Pakistan have reportedly been far from impressive in this World Cup and the squad has come under some scathing criticism for the same.

Akhtar has been one of the team's strongest critics slamming the system, but Nazar reckons that though the squad has been under-performing, things are not as bad as the former fast bowler thinks, The Dawn reported.

Nazar said that he believes Akhtar is merely exaggerating the problems in Pakistan cricket. He admitted that the squad not played well in this World Cup and there are issues but added that the way Akhtar is going out there and saying things about the captain and players is not right.

Nazar said that Akhtar might say whatever he wants but insisted that this team has done well in Test cricket. He added that in ODIs, when ones number one off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is banned six months ahead of the World Cup, their senior-most batsman and off-spinner Mohammed Hafeez is not there and their most successful left-arm pacer Junaid Khan is absent, it is bound to hurt.

Nazar claimed that he is disappointed too as he is a product of the same system, adding that he also cannot digest these performances.

Nazar further said that indulgence in PCB-bashing has become a trend. He said that there is a system problem in Pakistan cricket, but added that it is not as grave as what Akhtar is making it out to be.

Nazar said that PCB-bashing has become very fashionable in Pakistan, adding that while some are genuinely concerned about Pakistan cricket, there are many others, who are simply looking for job offers.
