Amid questions over Commonwealth Games preparations, sports minister MS Gill today wanted to apprise the Cabinet about it but was disallowed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Gill, who had come with a file, sought permission at the fag end of the meeting to give a presentation on the preparations for the mega sporting event that will take place here from October 3 to 14, sources said.
Singh, however, disallowed him, saying it was unnecessary as the issue had been discussed last evening at his meeting with Gill, urban development minister Jaipal Reddy, Delhi Lt Governor Tajendra Khanna and chief minister Sheila Dikshit, they said.
Amid intense criticism over CWG, the prime minister yesterday took stock of the situation, enquiring about various aspects of the preparations and directing that everything should be done to ensure the successful games.
"The prime minister was briefed about the state of preparedness of the Commonwealth Games. He was informed that every effort is being made to prepare he games facilities and the village to the expected standards," Khanna later told reporters.
