Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's manager has revealed that the legendary racer faces a long fight for recovery.

December 29 last year was the day when Schumacher met with his horrific skiing accident.

Sabine Kehm's comments cast doubts over a newspaper report that said that Schumacher was making 'cognitive progress'. She said that they 'need a long time', admitting that it's going to be a 'hard fight'.

Kehm further revealed that Schumacher is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation, reiterating a statement she made a month ago, Sport24 reported.

Schumacher suffered severe head injuries in a ski accident in Meribel in the French Alps on December 29, 2013. He emerged from an induced coma in June, and left hospital in September.

The seven-time world champion, who won a record 91 Formula One races, left the sport last year after a disappointing three-year comeback with Mercedes following an earlier retirement from Ferrari at the end of 2006, the report added.
