MCA vice-president Ashish Shelar, with the prior approval of MCA president Sharad Pawar, proposed the lifting of the ban on Khan.
The Mumbai Cricket Association, on Sunday, lifted the ban on Shah Rukh Khan. This means, the Bollywood superstar and owner of Kolkata Knight Riders will now be able to enter the MCA premises, including the Wankhede Stadium. Khan was originally given a five-year ban by the MCA on May 18, 2012 from entering its premises including the international venue, the Wankhede Stadium, following an altercation he had with the MCA security staff and officials soon after his IPL team KKR's 32-run win over Mumbai Indians on May 16, 2012.
However, Khan had maintained that he did not misbehave with the MCA staff but reacted only after children, including his kids, were "manhandled" by the security officials along the boundary line. The decision to lift the ban on Khan was taken by the MCA at a meeting here on Sunday.

"Today, in the MCA meeting, it was decided that the ban imposed on IPL's Kolkata franchise owner Shah Rukh Khan should be lifted. With the prior approval of our president Sharad Pawar, it was proposed that the ban on him be lifted and the managing committee approved it unanimously. The ban on his entry in the Wankhede Stadium has been revoked," Shelar told reporters after the meeting.
He added: "Action had been taken against him when required and we felt it was not good to take it any further. The whole managing committee consented on it. We felt it would not look good to bar somebody like this," Shelar said. Sources in the MCA said Khan called up Pawar to request that the ban be revoked
