From fighting in the boxing ring to raising a family, Mary Kom is a perfect definition of a modern Indian woman. With her husband, Onler always by her side, she is a perfect mother to her kids and India's most famous woman boxer.
Post the London Olympics, the medal winner has been the centre of much-deserved attention. From being an inspiration for a film, to walking on the ramp...Mary Kom is enjoying every bit of it.
Mary was recently in Mumbai to launch international brand Tommy Hilfiger's children-wear store.
Mary spoke about how her twins, Rechungvar and Khupneivar, are loving every moment of all the attention and adulation they are getting these days.
The bronze-medallist said, “Even though they wanted to stay in Manipur, I brought them here and now they are having a great time.”
Rechungvar and Khupneivar, who wore stylish branded outfits were a little overwhelmed by the attention they received at the event.
“They are very fond of dressing up. Whenever I go to foreign countries for tournaments, I make sure to get them new clothes,” says Mary.
The 29-year-old's dreams are not just limited to her personal achievements, she has much more to give to the country.
Mary has planned to set up her boxing academy all over India, but before that, she wants her academy to be well established in Manipur. “People have asked me to come and set up academies in Hyderabad and Bangalore,” the five-time world champion revealed.
On recently becoming the brand ambassador of Super Fight League, owned by Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Dutt, Mary said, “ I just don't want to promote my sport alone. There are many hard-working athletes in India and I would want them to get their dues.”
