According to various media reports, Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United’s most successful manager could take a more hands-on role as an advisor if the Glazers decide to promote Ryan Giggs to the top job. It’s believed that Ferguson would help Ryan Giggs if Van Gaal is deemed unworthy to continue.

Ferguson has no desire to return as a manager but would agree to a more hands-on role to help fellow club legend Giggs takes over. Since the Moyes episode, Ferguson has not been part of major club decisions, even though the Glazers. Since having a hand in the appointment of David Moyes once he decided to step down, Ferguson has effectively been excluded from any of the key strategic decisions taken by the club.

Earlier, ahead of Manchester United's clash with Liverpool, "Maybe Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest ever," Klopp told reporters on Friday. "I had really good moments with Sir Alex. It was an honour to talk with him," Klopp added. Ferguson, a master at playing mind games with rival managers, has gone on record to express his admiration for the German, who was less effusive in his praise for United's current manager Louis van Gaal.

"I don't know Louis too well but we have had a few intensive games. We both want to be successful," the German said. "We are different characters. He is more experienced. Maybe I'm more lively on the touchline than him, but sometimes that is not always good."
