London: Manchester United's reason behind David Moyes' sacking is that the club felt that it would have been disrespectful to begin the process of searching for a successor behind the Scot's back, while he was still in charge.

United had reportedly decided that Moyes had to leave Old Trafford following Sunday's 2-0 Everton loss, but senior club officials did not want to be disrespectful by searching for a new manager behind the Scot's back.

United is convinced that their decision to sack Moyes had been a right one at the right time, despite criticism by the League Managers' Association, the BBC reported.

United's senior officials were reportedly concerned about the lack of fight and spirit among the squad and speculations suggest that the board of directors had lost confidence in Moyes' ability to motivate the players in order to turn things around.

United has appointed veteran player Ryan Giggs as the club's temporary manager currently until the time a new manager is appointed at Old Trafford, the report added.
