Former German Footballer Franz Beckenbauer says that Bastian Schweinsteiger can do wonders for Germany at Euro 2016 despite a miserable time at the Old Trafford.

Bastian signed on with Manchester United, making a move from Bayern Munich, in the last season. But due to a knee injury, he had to be away from the field for the last 11-games of the season, including the FA Cup final.

In the meantime, the Red Devils let go of Dutchman Louis Van Gaal, giving manager's post to Jose Mourinho.

German coach Joachim Low has included Bastian in the squad for Euro 2016. He made a return in a friendly against Hungary on Saturday, which Germany won 2-0. Franz said that Bastian surprised him.

"He was stronger than expected in his 24 minutes against Hungary. He showed great joy of playing and also spiritual motivation," told Franz to German newspaper Bild.

Franz is also hoping to see red-faced Bastian, just like in the last minutes of 2014 World Cup final. Because according to him, Bastian is away from the issues at Manchester United and he will find his comfort in the Germany squad.

Germany will begin their Euro 2016 campaign on June 13 against Ukraine
