Defender Ashley Young netted a late winner for Manchester United as they edged past Newcastle 1-0 in their Premier League tie at St James Park on Wednesday night.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul made a string of fine saves throughout the game but committed last-minute blunder as his pass went straight to Young, who made no mistake converting the chance into a goal.

The game also witnessed a spat between United defender Jonny Evans and Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, who were seen spitting at each other in the first-half.

Newcastle manager John Carver said that he was devastated, adding that their guys gave every inch, admitting that when one play United one has to concentrate for every minute and they didn't, the BBC reported.

United manager Louis van Gaal said that they had dominated for 90 minutes, adding that it was maybe their best match of the season, especially in an away match they deserved the victory.

With the win, United are fourth in the points table, one behind third-placed Arsenal.
