Liverpool football team manager Brendan Rodgers has accepted that he is not arrogant to believe that he would be in a job through anything, after his side lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Sunday during their Premier League clash.
Liverpool endured another miserable trip to Palace as two late goals gave the south London club their third win of the season. Liverpool, whose title bid last season was damaged by a 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park, took the lead through Rickie Lambert's strike in the second minute.
But Dwight Gayle equalised after Yannick Bolasie's shot came off a post. Joe Ledley then slotted Palace in front before Mile Jedinak converted a free-kick from 25 yards to make it 3-1.
Rodgers' men have now lost three consecutive league matches and have only won once in five in the league. They are 18 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, and at the moment Europe, never mind the title, seems to be a distant dream, The BBC reported.
Regarding his future after the defeat, Rodgers said that he is not arrogant to think that he would be in a job through anything, as one has to win games. He admitted that he has got a great communication line with the owners, they are honest and open with each other, but also accepted that they have to get results and perform.
Rodgers said that he would only ever do his best, accepting he needs to fight even harder and take responsibility.
He accepted full responsibility for Liverpool's stuttering run of form. He admitted that the loss was a difficult moment and that he needed to fight hard and find a solution.
Rodgers said that they are very disappointed with the performance and the result, and added that as the manager it is something he needs to take full responsibility for. And, with a crucial Champions League group game against Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria on Wednesday, Rodgers made no attempt to hide what improvements are needed. He said that his players' passing is too tentative, there is not enough intensity and togetherness, confidence is low and the team is conceding poor goals. He also added that they are not aggressive and not playing as a team.
Rodgers said that they need to find a solution quickly because this is very disappointing, and they have no one but themselves to blame.
The departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and an injury to Daniel Sturridge has deprived Rodgers of a strike force that scored 53 league goals between them last season.
New attacking signings Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana have not filled the void and there have been problems in defence, with just two clean sheets in 18 league and Cup games, the report added.
