After a surprise podium finish in the Supersport FIM World Championship this season, MS Dhoni’s superbike team unveiled its new riders at a glittering event here on Wednesday. Three-time world champion Kenan Sofuoglu and Fabien Foret have joined the team.

What’s more, MSD R-N Racing Team India has been renamed Mahi Racing Team India. The India skipper also unveiled the new logo of the team. And for the first time ever, the team’s superbikes were on display in India. “We plan to open a riding school. And hopefully one day, we can see an Indian driver on our bikes,” Dhoni said.

“We were targeting a mid-table finish to form a base for the next year. But the team put up a sterling performance and created history by pulling off a podium finish after just five rounds,” said Arun Pandey, chairman and managing director of the team.

The team will aim for the championship next year when it competes in its first full season. The team will also become the factory team of Kawasaki in the new season. The riders will be testing the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R during the official winter testing season.

MSD R-N Racing Team India had debuted in the 600cc class as India’s first FIM World Superbike Championship Team. Despite its entry mid-way into the season, the team put up a strong performance, peaking at the final race at Magny Cours, France, with its rider Dan Linfoot pulling off a podium finish.

The Superbike championship will make its India debut in March next year, at Greater Noida’s Buddh International Circuit.
