Manchester United football team manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that although his stint at the Old Trafford outfit would be his last job, there could still be five years to go before he finally brings the curtains down on his illustrious managerial career.

The Dutchman dropped a strong hint that he is open to discussions over extending his three-year contract at United. He said that he can confirm this would be his last job but there could be five years to go yet, adding that he could extend his contract.

Van Gaal said that he signed for three years because one can build something up in that time, adding that he doesn't know how he would react if United asked him to extend, The Independent reported.

Van Gaal believes that he is working for the biggest club in the country and revealed that he turned down Sunday's opponents Liverpool, who instead appointed Brendan Rodgers.

The Dutchman admitted that it was very pleasing to be sounded out by Liverpool, adding that it's in the past. He said that he could have worked every year but he insisted that he takes sabbaticals because he has to please his wife, kids and grandchildren.

Van Gaal said that he is the manager of United, the number one club in England.
