Lotus boss Gerard Lopez warns three-car teams will sound death knell for F1

British Formula One team Lotus boss Gerard Lopez has said that three-car teams would be the death of the motor racing sport.

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone is being presented new proposals from rebel teams on Sunday in Sao Paulo in the hope of ending the cash crisis row. And he would take it back for talks for discussion with the sport's owners CVC.

Lotus, Force India and Sauber are looking for a better distribution of the sport's 520 million pounds prize fund after Marussia and Caterham went into administration, The Mirror reported.

However, leading Formula One teams are at loggerheads over new engine regulations and the division of the cash. Without more money the smaller teams fear more would fold.

And, behind the scenes, the smaller teams are threatening a protest that would mar the lucrative final round in Abu Dhabi in a fortnight's time. After meetings in the paddock Saturday and Sunday it appears other teams jeopardized the deal by demanding more cash if it is going to be dished out in a rescue package.

In light of Formula One being wrecked by its own greed, Lopez revealed that Gordon Gekko had said that 'greed is good' and that landed him in jail. He said that he has never threatened any kind of protest but this is a 1.6 billion pounds business and teams are going to the wall for the sake of a couple of tens of millions.

Lopez has warned that three car teams would be the death of the championship. He added that people just don't seem to care enough about the sport to do something.
