The Supreme Court (SC)-appointed Justice RM Lodha committee is all set to seek the removal of the president and the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Anurag Thakur and Ajay Sirke, for flouting its timelines and failing to implement its recommendations.

The judicial panel, in its meeting on Monday, had deliberated and discussed about the manner in which the BCCI has flouted the timelines issued by it from time to time. The panel would file its status report before the apex court on Wednesday, seeking appropriate directions against the cricket body.

A source close to the committee told dna: "The panel found impediments in implementing its suggestions and the top BCCI officials, particularly the president and secretary, are responsible. "

Expressing inability to implement the suggestions for reform, the BCCI has already filed a review petition, seeking Chief Justice of India T S Thakur to modify its previous order. "Instead of clearing the defects, the BCCI has been flouting the timelines and suggestions, citing its review plea on technical defects," the source said.

The Justice Lodha panel has been assigned the task by the Chief Justice to ensure the implementation of the recommendations. The panel had set two deadlines for the BCCI -- September 30 to make constitutional changes and December 15 for the Board to form a nine-member apex committee to replace the working committee.

It has also debarred the BCCI from taking decisions for the next year. But its annual general body meeting (AGM) took several decisions, defying the panel's suggestions on September 21.

The Lodha panel had recommended a set of sweeping reforms in BCCI, including restricting the tenure of office-bearers, introducing a cooling-off period for administrators, cutting down the present five-member selection panel to three and also a one state, one vote policy. The panel was set up by the court in 2013 on a plea on IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

The BCCI has called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on September 30 to consider the amendments as recommended by the Lodha committee. In the meantime, petitioner Aditya Verman, on behalf of the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), would seek an early hearing of the BCCI's review plea in the court on Wednesday.
