Barcelona star forward Lionel Messi sure is an Argentine wizard and not just in his native country but in Japan as well.

Messi took some time off from breaking La Liga and Champions League records to set a new world record, off the field.

In a video posted on YouTube, the Argentine is seen shooting the ball 18-metres high in the air over a crane in an outdoor basketball court on a Japanese television show.

And he just doesn't stop here. Messi juggles the ball with his magic feet, keeping it air borne as he shoots it up high in the air and then traps the ball again keeping it air borne to shoot it over the 18-metre high crane again.

The Japanese viewers look stunned in the video as Messi sets up the new world record in the video entitled, 'Lionel Messi: Lifting High 18m'.

Messi has continued his sparkling form on the field as well netting 23 times in 22 appearances so far this term for Barca and also broke Telmo Zarra's 251-goal record to become La Liga's highest goal scorer.
