Anirban Lahiri, who has not played Links golf since the time he went back after a tied 31st finish at Royal Lytham two years ago, still feels that his game is suited for Links golf.

The 27-year-old leader of the Asian Tour Order of Merit, who got a late call for the British Open, is all smiles, as he maintains, "I'm really enjoying being here, it's a lot of fun. I love playing links golf. I think it suits my game as I'm a lot of hands and feel and not so mechanical."

Lahiri, who is also due to play the PGA Championships next month, says, "If at the start of the year someone had said I would be playing two Majors in the space of one month, I would have been super excited.

But now, having gotten there, I know it would mean nothing if I don't do well. I feel if I have my 'A' game, I should do well," says Lahiri, whose hosts this week are a local family, Bradleys, who interestingly have also known Shiv Kapur, who played at Hoylake in 2006.

"They (Bradleys) have been like family. They know my manager, Neeraj, and have been superb in making me comfortable," added Lahiri.

Going back to his liking for Links golf, he adds, "Out here, you have to commit to every shot. In the practice rounds so far, it's been about figuring out which shot I want to hit and committing to it. A few times previously, I wasn't sure and hit shots which have been destructive."

He does know conditions can be unpredictable because of weather. "I have played in two different kinds of winds over the past two days which is very important. On one hole, I hit driver and three iron and today I hit three iron and pitching wedge," said Lahiri.

"Royal Liverpool is different than Lytham. There are not as many fairway bunkers but you have tight spots and there are internal out of bounds which is a bit strange. If you're like five yards off the fringe, you could be out of bounds."
