Ending almost 12 months of speculations, reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is on course to sign a new three-year deal with Mercedes worth a staggering 100 million pounds.

Although the two-time Formula One world champion will take home almost over 30 million pounds a year, he will still be lagging behind his biggest track rival Sebastian Vettel, who signed an extraordinary 50 million pounds deal with Ferrari, the Mirror reported.

Hamilton holds a 20-point lead over his team mate Nico Rosberg in the Drivers' Championship points, despite being edged past by the latter in the recently held Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

Hamilton is expected to announce his new mega-deal in Monte Carlo before the Grand Prix there on May 24.
