The 2009 World Champion Jenson Button has said that his late father John would be furious that the driver faces an uncertain future in Formula One, as the Briton's involvement in the sport is in doubt with McLaren yet to make a decision on next year's drivers.

Fernando Alonso would join from Ferrari, and McLaren would choose between Button and teammate Kevin Magnussen. Button, who finished fifth in the showdown in Abu Dhabi, which might potentially be his final Grand Prix, said that his dad would be livid if he knew his circumstances right now.

Button senior watched his son around the world, and was a constant presence on the Formula One scene, before his death in January, aged 70. The 34-year-old admits it has been a tough year since, The BBC reported.

Button said that sometimes when one does better, it hurts more if they have lost someone close to them. He added that Russia was difficult because they progressed and he finished fourth but it was mentally tough as one wants to come into the pits and tell someone close to him and admitted that that was his old boy.

The 2009 champion said that he hopes his dad would be proud but also hopes this is not the last time he would be in Formula One. He admitted that he hasn't got a clue if he would be racing next year. Button is hoping that McLaren would make a decision very soon for Magnussen and for his sake.

Button said that People have their reasons and he doesn't have the reasons as to why it takes so long.

Button, from Frome in Somerset, first came into the sport in 2000 and has raced for Williams, Benetton/Renault, BAR/Honda, where he won the title, and then McLaren, the report added.
