Jain emerges winner in recounting

Setting aside all speculations, Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) executive member SC Jain emerged winner in the recounting demanded by his rival Shivlal Daga, who lost by four votes in the  club elections held on December 17.

A recount was carried out in Mumbai on Friday by three independent scrutineers and there was no change to the composition of the committee.

“I feel vindicated and truth has prevailed. But for a few invalid votes, there is not much of a change. The most important thing is that we have all the nine members.” said RWITC chairman Vivek Jain told dna after the recounting.

It was rumoured that on account of a scrutiny of the invalid votes, the difference between Dr Jain and Daga went up to six from four, and that Vivek Jain crossed the 900-vote mark.
