Ivory Coast may have qualified for the African Cup of Nations but their 0-0 draw against Cameroon, which enabled the Les Elephants to enter Africa's elite tournament, was marred by clashes between fans and the police.

The match, played at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, was a drab affair, with both teams settling for a draw and the home side passing the ball in their own half for virtually the last 30 minutes.

At full time, however, thousand of Ivory Coast supporters entered the pitch, intent on personally greeting their national team. Scenes quickly grew ugly, with supporters seen pulling down the crossbar at one end of the ground.

When the police was deployed to disperse the crowds, many fans clashed with them, before the riot squads were dispersed to rein in the supporters.
