Signing big players takes time. Chennai Titans, the franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL), would know well by now.

Team officials were supposed to meet Ronaldinho in Rome on Monday but due to personal reasons, the Brazil legend could not make it. However, his agents including his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira, did, and according to reliable sources, the meeting went as planned and the deal could be finalised on Tuesday.

"We spoke to his team. They are really impressed with this venture (the ISL). The deal should be signed by Tuesday. Signing big players takes time, especially since it's a new league" the source, who is present in Rome, told dna over the telephone.

Ronaldinho was supposed to play alongside Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o and Filippo Inzaghi at Rome's Olympic stadium on Monday. David Trezeguet and Andrea Pirlo were also expected to be present. The charity tie is an inter-religious football match backed by Pope Francis and organised by Argentina and Inter Milan legend Javier Zanetti.

Since leaving Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro on July 29, the former World Player of the Year is a free agent and his future has been the subject of intense speculation.
