Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin Indian Premier League 2017 campaign with a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 5.
After RCB, Now Sunrisers Hyderabad will miss one of its star players in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League. Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman is still waiting for permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the delay slims his chances of playing for the IPL team.
Mustafizur was quoted as saying to The Sportstar, "I have learnt a lot from the IPL, but I don’t think I will be able to make it for the tournament this time around. I am waiting for permission from the Board."
Mustafizur played an important role as Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up the winner's trophy for the 2016 season. He took 17 wickets in the 16 matches he played for the team that acquired him for Rs 1.4 crore.
The pacer is currently part of Bangladesh team visiting Sri Lanka to play three ODIs and two T20Is. IPL 10 beings on April 5, when Sunrisers Hyderabad face off Royal Challengers Bangalore. Even if 'The Fizz', another moniker the cricketer boasts, gets permission to play, he will miss the first leg of the tournament.
But the pacer also revealed that Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has advised him to skip the T20 tournament to stay fit and fresh for national commitments. "I am seriously considering his advice. We have a long season ahead, and it is important that I remain fit. I am trying hard to regain the lost touch, but I am still not happy with my performance. Before the Ireland tour, I have to be absolutely ready," said Mustafizur.
Mustafizur's probable absence will be compensated by the quality of bowling attack in Hyderabad's arsenal. The homegrown talent of Bhuvneshawar Kumar, Ashish Nehra, and others is backed by overseas players like Chris Jordan, Ben Laughlin, and all-rounders like Ben Cutting.
