Cheteshwar Pujara did not need a second invitation to express himself. Often playing the anchor role at No. 3, the 29-year-old was given the licence to go after the leather. And, the result was a 58-ball 54 not out.

He was in full control of the Bangladesh bowling that despite three fielders waiting for the hook, he deposited Taskin Ahmed over long leg for six, that saw his batting partner and captain Virat Kohli punch his bat in exaltation before doing the same to Pujara's gloves.

"We wanted to accelerate and bat for a session. There is a perception that I can't play many shots. This was one of the occasions that gave me an opportunity to express myself, and I did that," Pujara said here post Day 4.

Pujara's average in Hyderabad has only gone higher. In three Tests here, he has scores of 159 (vs NZ in 2012), 204 (vs Aus, 2013) and 83 & 54* in this Test for an average of 166.67.

The second innings approach was different, he said. "I could play freely, take some risks and play my shots. In Test cricket, you still have to put a price on your wicket. When you are playing in first innings, you don't want to play any rash shot and put team in trouble. This was an opportunity where we had to bat for one session, and even if I get out, we had batsmen who can come in and accelerate."

With three Bangladesh second innings wickets claimed and still seven more to get, Pujara hoped that his bowlers would take the remaining scalps at the earliest. "The ball has started turning now. Probably the wicket is slightly on the slower side but at the same time, probably it has opened up and there should be more assistance for spinners tomorrow (Monday). We expected the ball to turn from Day 3 and it started turning a little more from Day 4. It isn't an easy pitch where you can run through the sides. You need a lot of patience. They had to work hard to get them out," Pujara said.
