Ravichandran Ashwin, the No.1 all-rounder in the world, accomplished yet another feat on Friday as he became the highest wicket-taker for India in a home season.

The off-spinner's dismissal of Mitchell Starc in the on-going first Test against Australia on Friday was his 64th in Team India's current home season. Ashwin went past the legendary Kapil Dev who had taken 63 wickets in 1979-80.

Here's Ashwin's moment of glory:

Ashwin at the top of the list:

The Tamil Nadu lad has been in phenomenal form in the past couple of years for India at home. Having cemented his place as the No.1 spinner in the world, Ashwin looks all set to break many more records in the years to come.

However, as commendable as Ashwin's effort is, it wouldn't be incorrect to rate Kapil's accomplishment a notch higher. As the great Sunil Gavaskar pointed out in the commentary box on Friday, for a pace-bowler to get that many wickets on Indian wickets was simply incredible.
